i think i found the emptiest place in the city of san diego. after muddling through my french final exam, i decided to reward myself by hiking up cowles mtn, and then continuing on to pyles peak. while i love to see so many people out enjoying nature, anyone who is from san diego has to admit that cowles mtn is something of an anthill. secret: after you reach the rest of the crowds celebrating their success at reaching the summit, follow the signs for pyles peak. the trail is pretty much empty and after less than a mile and a half you find yourself on top of a wee little flower covered mountain. really quite peaceful. i sunned myself like a lizard on a rock and enjoyed the sensation of being a mile away from anybody.

what a lovely little journey you've described!
one of my favourite little pasttimes is find the “quiet” spots in a bustling city … one can be literally one street away from the main hubub of the town, and yet be in a quiet, isolated spot … an odd staircase, a lesser traversed street … finding the eye within the storm of people. And these spots can change by the hour …
I guess I am a lonely figure even within a crowd. Always need that buffer of space between me and others.
very nice blog post Sara
